Committee Background
The work on harmonization of SAARC Standards on toilet soap started from the fourth meeting of SSCB held on 23-24 June, 2008 at Kathmandu, Nepal. The first Sectoral Technical Committee on Chemical and Chemical Products held on 23-24 September, 2014 at New Delhi under the chair of Ms. Parminder Bajaj, Deputy Director-General, Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Government of India. The STC agreed to harmonize Standards on Liquid Toilet Soap, Baby Toilet Soap, Hair Shampoo, Shampoo for Babies and Soft Soap. The committee discussed on Draft Comparative Chart on Liquid Toilet Soap; Baby Toilet Soap, Soft Soap, Hair Shampoo and Shampoo for Babies and agreed to prepare revised draft comparative chart based on the National Standards and data. The committee also considered lists of raw materials for making reference in all cosmetics Standards.
